London Lions duo lead the way in stacked Molten Defensive Team of the Year

Super League Basketball is delighted to announce the roster for the Molten All-Defensive Team of the Year, following a voting process involving the League’s Head Coaches, Captains and select members of the media.

Headlining the roster are London Lions duo Deane Williams and Tarik Phillip, who both achieved 15 of a possible 19 selections to the roster.

Both have set the tone for the treble-winners defensively, with Phillip proving a menace negating the primary ball-handlers of London’s opponents, and Williams a threat on and off the ball with his size and length leading to many blocks for the defending champions.

Next up is Surrey 89ers big man Michael Graham, who bagged 11 selections. The rookie centre has averaged just shy of a double-double (9.8 points and 9.4 rebounds per game) in his debut professional campaign, and been a key figure for Lloyd Gardner’s side in another solid season for the young franchise.

Completing the roster are two Florida natives – London’s Chaundee Brown Jr. and Cheshire’s LaQuincy Rideau – with nine and eight selections respectively.

Brown Jr.’s inclusion makes it a trio of Lions included in this roster, which is no surprise given the suffocating defence that has been a hallmark of the side’s success this season, and Rideau is a proven defensive specialist at this level, having enjoyed similar success on that end of the floor in his previous experience with Cheshire.
