Super League Basketball Confirms 2026/27 Men’s Fixtures as Liverpool Joins Expanded 10-Team Competition

Super League Basketball (SLB) has today unveiled the full fixture schedule for the 2026/27 Championship season, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter as Liverpool Basketball officially joins the competition.

The addition of Liverpool sees the league expand to 10 teams for the first time, with fans set to enjoy more games, new rivalries and an even more competitive season across the Championship, Cup and Play-Off competitions.

The 2026/27 Championship will see all 10 teams face each other four times – twice at home and twice away – across a 27-week regular season, with each club playing 36 games.

Alongside the Championship, the SLB Cup returns in a refreshed knockout format. The top six teams from last season’s Championship receive automatic byes to the Quarter-Finals, while the remaining three teams and the newly-minted Liverpool Basketball will contest single-leg Play-in fixtures on Friday 8 January.

The Play-in matchups are:

  • Newcastle Eagles vs Caledonia Gladiators
  • Surrey 89ers vs Liverpool

Quarter-Finals will take place on Sunday 10 January:

  • London Lions vs Newcastle Eagles or Caledonia Gladiators
  • Cheshire Phoenix vs Surrey 89ers or Liverpool
  • Manchester Basketball vs Bristol Flyers
  • B. Braun Sheffield Sharks vs Leicester Riders

The Semi-Finals will be played over two legs on Friday 15 January and Sunday 17 January following an open draw, before the Cup Final returns to the AO Arena in Manchester on Sunday 21 March 2027.

The Play-Offs will feature the top six Championship teams. The top two seeds from the Championship campaign will advance directly to the Semi-Finals, while teams seeded third to sixth will contest two-legged Quarter-Finals before the competition concludes with the Play-Off Final at The O2 in London on Sunday 16 May 2027.

The release of the fixtures gives supporters their first opportunity to plan for another blockbuster season, with the arrival of Liverpool adding a fresh dimension to the competition and creating new storylines across the league.

Andy Webb, Chief Operating Officer of Super League Basketball, said:

“The release of the fixtures is always one of the most exciting moments in the build-up to a new season, and this year feels particularly significant with Liverpool joining the league.

“Expanding to 10 teams is another important step in the continued growth of Super League Basketball and creates even more opportunities for great rivalries, competitive games and unforgettable moments for our fans. We can’t wait to see arenas across the country full of supporters as another exciting season gets underway.”
