The Bristol Flyers have completed the signing of British-Canadian guard Matteus Case on a one-year deal ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The 6’5″ guard arrives in Bristol for his second season as a professional after splitting the 2025/26 campaign between Portugal and Albania. Case began last season with Portuguese top-flight side Vitoria SC, where he averaged 6.2 points and 2.2 rebounds per game, before moving on to KS Tirana in Albania, posting 10.6 points and 3.6 rebounds per contest.
Born in Canada and holding British citizenship, Case represented Canada at the 2017 FIBA U16 AmeriCup before embarking on his collegiate career in the United States.
He began his NCAA journey at Providence before transferring to William & Mary, where he spent three seasons. During his senior campaign, Case averaged 8.2 points and 2.5 rebounds per game while appearing in all 32 games and earning starts in each of the Tribe’s final 14 contests.
The versatile guard led the team in scoring on six occasions and topped the assists charts five times throughout the season, recording double figures in 11 games.
Speaking on his move to Bristol, Case said: “I’m really excited. Going into the offseason, one of my goals was to get over to the SLB, so when the opportunity came from Bristol, we jumped at it. I’ve heard nothing but great things about the club and the league, so I’m excited to get over there and get to work.”
“My conversation with Coach Kapoulas was a great. We ended up being on the phone for a lot longer than I expected, just talking about everything from the style of basketball he likes to play to what he expects from his players. After watching a lot of film from last season, the style reminded me a lot of my college basketball, which really excited me. Coach wants me to be a spark, whether that’s starting or coming off the bench, and to bring energy and play winning basketball, so I’m looking forward to that.
“I feel like my game is a mix of a lot of things. When you look at the box score, my three-point shooting will probably stand out, but I love to defend and I’m willing to do whatever the team needs. I can handle the ball, I can play off the ball, but the thing I feel really confident in is my shot. I just want to come in, bring energy and do whatever I can to help the team win.”
“I can’t wait for the opportunity to get out there and play in front of the Flyers fans. From what I’ve seen online, it looks like they really back the team, and that’s all we can ask for. I’m going to give 100% every night I get on the court for the fans, and I know they’ll do the same. I’m excited to meet everyone and get to work.”
Flyers Head Coach Andreas Kapoulas added: “Matteus is a player we’ve been tracking for a whileand we’re delighted to bring him to Bristol. He’s a talented young guard with excellent size, athleticism and versatility, and we believe he has all the tools to continue developing into a very impactful player at this level.”
“He has gained valuable experience during his first season as a professional in both Albania and Portugal, and we’re excited to help him take the next step in his career. Matteus is eager to improve, works hard every day and fits the culture we’re building within our group. We’re looking forward to welcoming him to the Flyers and seeing the impact he can make this season.”
Case becomes the ninth addition to Coach Kapoulas’ roster for the 2026/27 campaign, as the Flyers continue to build towards another exciting season of Super League Basketball and European North Basketball League action.
