Super League Basketball is delighted to announce the winner of the Molten Most Improved Player of the Year, following a voting process involving the League’s Head Coaches, Captains and select members of the media.
Bristol Flyers captain Owen McCormack secures the honour after his performances for Andreas Kapoulas’ side this year.
A season-high 20 points in the Championship came in December against the Caledonia Gladiators as the British-American dual-national started the campaign in fine form for Bristol, averaging 15 points per game during a crucial six-week stretch for the team in December and January.
McCormack has led the side with distinction domestically and on the continent this season as Flyers again competed in European North Basketball League (ENBL) action and has been a crucial presence for the club on and off the court.
Reflecting on his success in winning the award, McCormack said:
“I just want to thank the coaching staff, my teammates, and the Flyers fans for their support throughout the season.
“Coach Kapoulas gave me the platform to play my game and trusted me with the minutes, putting me in a position to make plays and contribute the way I have.
“It’s obviously disappointing that the season didn’t end how we wanted, but it means a lot to be recognised in just my second year in the league. I feel like I’m moving in the right direction as a player, and I’m excited to see what the future holds.”
Bristol Flyers Head Coach Andreas Kapoulas added:
“Owen’s recognition as the league’s Most Improved Player is thoroughly deserved. What stands out most isn’t just the strides he’s made on the court, but the way he’s embraced leadership within our group.
“He set the standard every day with his professionalism, work ethic and the care he shows for our club and everyone in it. He represents everything we want a Bristol Flyers player to be and I am really pleased to see him receive the award.”

Voters were asked to choose their top three selections for the award, with the first choice earning three points, the second choice two points and the third choice one point, with the player who accrues the most points overall winning the award.
