Bristol Flyers complete signing of Will Yoakum

Bristol Flyers have bolstered their roster with the addition of 6’5″ American swingman Will Yoakum.

The 27-year-old guard becomes the ninth member of Andreas Kapoulas’ 2025/26 squad and joins the club on a one-year deal.

Yoakum began his college career at West Liberty in NCAA Division II and was a two-time All-Mountain East Conference selection with the Hilltoppers.

He transferred to Nova Southeastern University for the 2022/23 season and led the team to a perfect 36-0 record on their way to lifting the 2023 NCAA DII national championship.

Yoakum averaged 20.4 points and 4.7 rebounds per game during NSU’s 2022/23 title-winning season and set a single-season school record in scoring with 727 points. He also shot 58% from the field, whilst posting the highest 3PT field goal percentage across the whole of NCAA DI and DII at 53%.

His performances that season culminated in being named a NCAA Division II All-American, and he later competed as part of the Chicago Bulls’ 2023 NBA Summer League roster.

Speaking on his decision to join the Flyers, Yoakum said:

“I’ve heard a lot of great things about the Flyers, the league, the city and the fans, so I can’t wait to get started.

“This is going to be my third year playing pro, so I’ve got a little experience. But it’s also nice to be in an English-speaking country.

“I’ve had great experiences playing overseas, but after speaking to Coach Kapoulas, I just had a great feeling about the Flyers and the culture around the organisation.

“Coach expects me to use my experience and act as a voice on the team. He also also wants me to play fast and be consistent on both ends of the floor – that’s one thing that Flyers fans can always expect from me.

“I’m excited to put some smiles on some faces out there in Bristol and meet the Flyers Family.”

After graduating Nova Southeastern University in 2023, Yoakum spent his rookie season with Rasta Vechta II in the German second tier (Pro-A), before spending the past two years in Mexico, most recently for Ángeles CD México, where he averaged 18.6 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game over 45 appearances during the 2025 CIBACOPA season.

Flyers Head Coach Andreas Kapoulas said:

“We’re thrilled to add Will to our roster. He’s a high-IQ player who plays with great composure and efficiency, and knows what it takes to win.

“Will’s ability to shoot the ball, move without the ball as well as defend multiple positions, rebound and compete with intensity makes him a perfect fit for the way we want to play.

“We believe he’ll make an immediate impact on both ends of the floor and bring real toughness to our team.”

Yoakum arrived in the UK earlier today and is set to make his Flyers debut in the upcoming pre-season friendly against Reading Rockets on Friday, September 12th.
