Cheshire Phoenix to Face Spanish ACB Opposition in Pre-Season Tour

Cheshire Phoenix will continue their preparations for the 2026/27 Super League Basketball season with a challenging pre-season tour of Spain, taking on three clubs from one of Europe’s most prestigious domestic competitions.

The Phoenix will begin the trip against MoraBanc Andorra on Thursday 28 August before facing Bàsquet Girona on Friday 29 August and concluding the tour against BAXI Manresa on Saturday 30 August.

The three-game schedule will provide Cheshire with the opportunity to test themselves against elite opposition from the Liga ACB, widely regarded as one of the strongest domestic basketball leagues in the world. Featuring clubs that regularly compete in European competition, the ACB has long been recognised as a benchmark for professional basketball across the continent.

For Cheshire, the tour represents an invaluable opportunity to continue integrating a new-look roster, build chemistry ahead of the new campaign and gain experience against some of the highest-calibre opposition available during pre-season.

General Manager James Brice believes the experience will be instrumental in helping the club lay the foundations for the season ahead.

“This pre-season trip to Spain represents a massive opportunity for Cheshire Phoenix and an important step in preparing our new team for the season ahead.

“Playing three ACB teams will give us the chance to test ourselves against some of the highest-level competition in European basketball. The ACB is one of the strongest domestic leagues in the world, and exposing our players and coaching staff to that standard will be hugely valuable.

“For us, this trip is about more than just pre-season games. It’s about bringing our new group together, challenging ourselves in an elite environment and setting the standards and expectations for the season ahead and future European campaigns.

“As a club, we want to keep pushing forward, raising our level and giving our players opportunities to compete against the very best. We’re extremely excited about what this trip will bring both on and off the court.”

The Spanish tour is another demonstration of Cheshire Phoenix’s ambition to challenge themselves at the highest level, offering players and staff a unique opportunity to measure themselves against world-class opposition before returning home for the start of the Super League Basketball season.

Supporters will be able to follow the team’s progress throughout the trip across Cheshire Phoenix’s social media channels.
