Super League Basketball is delighted to announce the winner of the Molten Most Valuable Player award for the 2025/26 season, following a voting process involving the League’s Head Coaches, Captains and select members of the media.
Capping off an incredible debut season in SLB, Cheshire Phoenix’s Patrick Robinson has taken the top individual honour for players in this campaign’s awards, adding the MVP title to his Sixth Player of the Year and All-League Team of the Year nominations.
Starting in only two of his 28 Championship outings for the Phoenix, Robinson ranks top of SLB in points scored with 20 per game and leads in two-point percentage, with 60.8%, as he helped power Cheshire to second in the Championship, semi-finals in the Cup and Trophy and a spot in this Sunday’s Play-off Final at The O2, against London,
Reflecting on his success, Robinson said:
“I’m deeply honoured to win Molten Most Valuable Player for the 2025/26 season. To a certain extent I expected to win something like this because I put myself in the position to be successful.
“I put in the work, I don’t drink, I don’t go out partying, I’m wholly dedicated to what I do and like I said I just did everything I could to be the best version of myself for this team and to be successful. Sometimes you do all those things and it doesn’t work out but in this case I’m so glad it did and that it came to fruition like I thought it would.
“My teammates have been incredible and I couldn’t have done this without them. The qualities they have and the spacing we’re able to create on the floor because of them allows me the space to do what I do.
“Ben is always telling me not to settle for taking threes, which was an adjustment for me because I definitely have opportunities to do that, but my job is to put that pressure on the defence by driving and being here and having that philosophy has really opened my eyes to my potential as a player.”
Cheshire Phoenix Head Coach Ben Thomas added:
“This MVP win is special. I don’t remember anybody winning MVP and Sixth Man in the same season, so that is huge credit to Pat.
“He has accepted a role on the team and just made it his own, becoming invaluable to us as an organisation, playing a high level of basketball all season regardless of his minutes, whether he starts or finishes games, he’s just flourished.
“He’s been a handful for every team, every night. It’s an incredible moment for him in his career, it is thoroughly deserved and I’m really pleased and happy for him that he’s got that recognition.”
