Marc Steutel’s Great Britain Senior Men’s National Team will begin their campaign to qualify for the FIBA 2027 World Cup in Qatar with a clash against one of the best sides in the world, Lithuania, at the Copper Box Arena in London on Thursday November 27, with tickets on sale now.
The fixture will serve as a rematch of sorts for GB’s battle with the Lithuania at EuroBasket earlier this year, from which the visitors – who are placed ninth in the Nike Men’s World Rankings – emerged victorious.
Coach Steutel’s GB will be looking to avenge that defeat and commence a crucial qualifying campaign with victory in front of what is expected to be a capacity crowd in the nation’s capital.
With GB’s roster to be announced soon, and plenty of Super League Basketball representation expected, SLB fans can get tickets now via Ticketmaster for the game and show support for the National Team as they aim to make history by qualifying for the World Cup for the first time ever.
Great Britain Men’s National Team and Newcastle Eagles Head Coach Marc Steutel said:
“We’re really excited to be playing at the Copper Box again and hoping that we can put on an excellent performance in front of our incredible fans, who stay with us all the time no mater what. The last time out at the Copper Box, the atmosphere was electric and we hope we can recreate the same again whilst showing a performance full of pride and passion that our fans can be proud of.”
Great Britain and Lithuania are joined in their First Qualifying Round pool by Italy and Iceland, and will battle each of their group opponents home and away in three windows between now and the summer of 2026.
The top three teams in the pool will advance to the Second Qualifying Round, which will take place from August 2026, and results from the First Round will carry over so every point and every win matters as GB embark on their journey to make National Team history.
