Bristol Flyers have added 6’5″ guard Dylan Wilkie to their roster ahead of the 2026/27 Super League Basketball (SLB) and European North Basketball League (ENBL) season.
The dual British and New Zealand guard joins the Flyers from Auckland Tuatara in the NZ NBL, where he has developed into one of the league’s promising young perimeter players.
Wilkie played a key role in helping Auckland lift the 2026 Rapid League championship. The shortened-format competition runs alongside the NZ NBL, providing additional competitive opportunities for emerging and developing players.
He began his professional career with the Franklin Bulls, making his NZ NBL debut during the 2021 season, before gaining further experience in Australia with Albury-Wodonga in NBL1 and the Shepparton Gators in the Big V League.
He joined Auckland Tuatara in 2025, averaging 4.9 points per game in his debut season, before increasing his production to 7.1 points per game during the 2026 campaign.
His performances earned him a return to Auckland for the 2026 season and at the time of writing, he leads the NZ NBL in three-point shooting percentage, converting at an impressive 56.1% from beyond the arc.
Speaking on his move to Bristol and the transition to European basketball, Wilkie said: “I’m really excited. It’s definitely a big jump for me.
“Talent-wise, I feel like New Zealand basketball is pretty high up there, but it’s a different style of basketball in Europe, so I see this as a massive next step in my career.
“I was actually born in the UK. My dad is Welsh and I was raised in the UK until I was almost five, before we moved to Auckland. I’ve been back to England occasionally to visit family, but I’m really excited to experience living over there as an adult.
“I remember when I first got in contact with Coach Kapoulas and I could tell straight away how much he cares about the club. He’s built the programme from the ground up over the last 20 years and has put so much effort into making it what it is today.
“He talked to me about my role and how the club has always been a big defensive team, and that’s one of the biggest parts of my game that I really want to develop moving forward. I want to feel like a real presence out there defensively, and from the way he described the environment, it feels like the perfect place to develop that side of my game.
“I’m excited to get started and can’t wait to meet the rest of the Flyers Family.”
Flyers Head Coach Andreas Kapoulas added: “Dylan is a player we’re really excited to bring into the Flyers Family. He’s a hard-working, intelligent basketball player who has shown that he can really shoot the ball, but we also believe there is a lot more to his game that we can help him develop.
“Defensively, we want him to become a real presence on the floor, and I think our environment is a great place for him to continue growing in that area. He understands that he’ll have to earn his opportunities, but that’s something he embraces, and we’ve been really impressed with his attitude and willingness to work.
“He’s coming into a new league and a new country, but he’s someone who we believe has the right mentality to make that transition. We’re looking forward to seeing him continue to develop and, most importantly, contribute to what we’re building here at the Flyers.”
Wilkie becomes the seventh name on Coach Kapoulas’ 2026/27 roster and will link up with his new Flyers teammates following the conclusion of the current New Zealand NBL season.
