All 10 teams were in action for Week Two of the Super League Basketball Championship season.
Home-court advantage was on full display, with the winner of all six games being the home side, and there were plenty of stellar performances throughout.
London Lions 91-81 Cheshire Phoenix
London Lions continued their unbeaten start to the 2026/27 SLB Championship, moving to 3-0 with a 91-81 victory over Cheshire Phoenix.
London led for almost the entirety of the contest and were ahead by as many as 29 points in the third quarter, showing that they are once again a force to be reckoned with this season.
Five Lions put up double-digit scoring performances, including Joel Scott who shot an efficient 8/11 from the floor on his way to 19 points to go alongside seven rebounds. Ethan Price, Maxwell Lewis and Tarik Phillip added 15, 12 and 10 points respectively off the bench.
Despite a second consecutive 22-point outing from Isaiah Gray to lead all scorers, Cheshire never got a foothold in the game and are still looking for a first win of the season.
Player of the game: Joel Scott (London Lions)
Newcastle Eagles 94-68 Bristol Flyers
Newcastle Eagles picked up their first win of the season in emphatic fashion, defeating Bristol Flyers 94-68 at Vertu Arena.
The Eagles were efficient in every department, shooting 14/28 (50%) from three-point range and going 16/17 (94%) at the free-throw line. They also capitalised on the Flyers not taking care of the basketball, scoring 28 points from turnovers.
Tavis Smith had a game-high 22 points and went a perfect 9-9 from the charity stripe, whilst Blondeau Tchoukuigeno stuffed the stat sheet with 11 points, eight rebounds, seven steals and five assists, as well as a plus-minus of +37. Mitch Clarke also added 19 points on 7/11 shooting off the bench.
The Flyers never scored 20+ in any of the four quarters, and Michael Diggins Jr. was the only Bristol player to put up double-digit scoring numbers (15 points).
Player of the Game: Blondeau Tchoukuigeno (Newcastle Eagles)
Manchester Basketball 79-67 Surrey 89ers
Manchester Basketball opened their 2026/27 Championship campaign with a 79-67 win at home against Surrey 89ers.
Although Manchester never trailed in the contest, it certainly wasn’t one-sided, with Surrey trailing by just six at the end of the first half and cutting it to five heading into the fourth quarter.
Back-to-back Jalen Graham buckets saw the 89ers close the gap to just two points with under five minutes to play, but an 11-3 run by Manchester down the stretch helped them close out the game.
Captain Luke Nelson missed just one shot on his way to 13 points and Brandon Mitchell-Day posted a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double for Manchester, and despite a monster performance from Graham who finished with 22 points and 15 boards, Surrey couldn’t find enough to begin their season victorious.
Player of the Game: Brandon Mitchell-Day (Manchester Basketball)
B.Braun Sheffield Sharks 98-76 Caledonia Gladiators
B.Braun Sheffield Sharks kicked off their season with a 98-76 victory over Caledonia Gladiators at Canon Medical Arena.
The Sharks led throughout the entire game and built their lead quarter by quarter whilst shooting an efficient 55% as a team.
The Sheffield trio of Maceo Jack, Adrian Delph and Sean Bairstow combined for 64 points, with the former scoring a game-high 25 on 10-14 shooting and the latter pouring in 18 in just under 16 minutes of play. Delph had five threes and ended with 21 points.
There was an impressive scoring performance for Caledonia as Christian Keeling went 7-10 from three-point range and finished with 23 points to go with seven rebounds, but they couldn’t carry their momentum forward from last week’s win against Liverpool Basketball.
Player of the Game: Maceo Jack (B. Braun Sheffield Sharks)
London Lions 78-49 Liverpool Basketball
London Lions maintained their perfect record with a comfortable win at the Copper Box Arena, defeating Liverpool Basketball 78-49.
It wasn’t the prettiest performance from last season’s quadruple winners, who shot just 40% from the floor and missed 12 of their 29 free throws, but turning the ball over just five times and scoring 26 points off Liverpool turnovers was a key factor in the ball game.
Thomas Kennedy needed just 17 minutes to post 15 points on 77% shooting and Keenan Evans had four boards, assists and steals on top of his 11 points. Maxwell Lewis, Emilis Zibuda and Ethan Price all contributed 10 points apiece.
Liverpool never got going in this one, with nine points and nine boards from Tevin Smith both being team-highs in what was a difficult afternoon for the newcomers.
Player of the Game: Thomas Kennedy (London Lions)
Cheshire Phoenix 108-94 Leicester Riders
An all-around team performance from Cheshire Phoenix helped them bounce back from Wednesday night’s defeat and get in the win column, beating Leicester Riders 108-94.
Seven Cheshire players finished with double-digit points, including all five starters, and they scored 25+ in all four quarters in a contest which they led from start to finish.
Nazir Williams had a team-high 20 points on 70% shooting off the Phoenix bench, whilst Jo’el Emmanuel led the starting unit with 18 points on an even more impressive 77% from the floor. Six of the seven Cheshire players with 10+ points finished with a field-goal percentage of 50% or higher.
For Leicester, Thomas Hurley led all scorers with 23 points on 7-9 shooting, and as a team they went 57% from the field and 10-19 from three, which more often that not would be enough to win the game, but it wasn’t to be for them on the road.
Player of the Game: Nazir Williams (Cheshire Phoenix)
