Zak is back! Irvin returns to Manchester Basketball

Manchester Basketball have confirmed the return of fan favourite Zak Irvin for the 2025/26 season.

The 30-year-old American established himself as a key player for the squad last season and was named the club’s Defensive Player of the Year in his debut campaign, after coming in as a mid-season acquisition by the club.

Manchester Basketball Head of Operations Dominique Allen said:

“Zak is an important signing for us. He was fantastic in his spell with us last season, he really embraced being here and being a part of what we are building. We recognise it’s great for us to maintain some continuity with the right players. His experience and leadership in the group will be important for us.”

Reflecting on his return to the north-west, Irvin added:

“I am blessed and grateful to return for another season. Last year our team was able to generate a buzz and momentum that we are looking forward to build off of. Basketball is continuing to grow all over the world, especially in Manchester and I’m excited to be a key part of our continued success.”

Irvin enjoyed a stellar collegiate career with NCAA Division One powerhouse Michigan, where he spent four seasons from 2013-2017. He was named as Indiana Mr Basketball and the Indiana Gatorade Player of the Year in 2013.

After graduating from Michigan, the American spent two seasons in the NBA G-League with Westchester Knicks. In 2022 he joined Bank of Taiwan where he had two years ahead of a return to the NBA G-League with Grand Rapids Gold.
