The Bristol Flyers have completed the signing of Canadian guard Alain Louis for the rest of the 2024/25 season.
Head Coach Andreas Kapoulas has bolstered the ranks of his roster ahead of the busy festive period with the addition of the 6’1″ point guard, who joins the club from Spanish LEB Gold side C.B Moron, after a successful spell in the Canadian Elite Basketball League.
The 28-year-old is eligible to make his Super League Basketball debut on Saturday as the Flyers hit the road to take in the Surrey 89ers.
Speaking on his decision to join the Flyers, Louis said: “I was looking for the right situation for me, and when I talked to Coach Kapoulas, I quickly understood the family feel around the club. Everybody around the team cares so much around the wellbeing of each other.
“I watched the game against Manchester Basketball the other week and it’s clear that we have a very talented team. I’m looking forward to getting on the court with the guys – I want to bring a competitive fire to the team and I’m ready to work hard.”
Louis played his college basketball at Carleton University from 2017-2022. where he won three consecutive national championships and was named Finals MVP in 2022.
He was drafted 15th overall by the Ottawa BlackJacks in the 2021 CEBL U Sports draft as a U Sports Developmental Player. With the BlackJacks, Louis averaged 7.1 points, 2.8 assists in just over 21 minutes per game.
Following his senior year, Louis was drafted second overall by the Montréal Alliance in the 2022 CEBL U Sports Draft, we he spent two seasons and averaged 9.3 points, 3.8 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game during the 2022/23 campaign.
Speaking on the addition of Louis, Flyers Head Coach Andreas Kapoulas said: “Alain is a tough competitor who will make an impact on both ends of the floor.
“He is joining us during an important period of games and you can tell in the short period that he has been with us that this will be a very good fit for both sides. His experience, attitude and skillset will be a strong addition to our roster as we return to action after the FIBA International window.”
The Flyers also confirmed the departure of American guard Trey Tennyson. The American joined the Flyers in August on his first professional contract out of TCU and made 13 appearances for the club in all competitions. The club thanked Tennyson for his contribution and wishes him all the best for his future career.
