Super League Basketball is delighted to announce the roster for the Molten All-British Team of the Year, following a voting process involving the League’s Head Coaches, Captains and select members of the media.
Headlining the roster is a duo from the Championship-winning London Lions roster, as Aaryn Rai and Jaiden Delaire took 17 of a possible 19 votes each.
Rai and Delaire have been crucial components to the success of Head Coach Petar Bozic’s side in Regular Season action this year, and their contributions were especially vital in the latter stages of the season as the title race went down to the wire and London battled several injuries to key players.
Next up on the roster is Josh Ward-Hibbert, who tallied 14 selections. A tone-setter for the Newcastle Eagles on both ends of the floor, the Great Britain international’s veteran leadership and experience has been crucial for a Marc Steutel side that has won silverware domestically, securing the Trophy title back in January, and made history on the continent as they became the first British side to reach the Final Four in the European North Basketball League.
Despite a difficult season for the Caledonia Gladiators collectively, Patrick Whelan has continued to show his class on the court in the face of adversity, as he makes the roster with 12 selections. With several coaching changes to contend with, it didn’t hinder Whelan’s output and leadership qualities as the Great Britain international was a constant threat throughout the season for Caledonia.
Completing the five is Leicester Riders sharpshooter Riley Abercrombie, with 11 selections. In a standout rookie season, the Northern Colorado alum proved himself a scoring threat at all three levels for Rob Paternostro’s side, but particularly on the perimeter he found his rhythm as the Riders ran London close in the title race.
