American guard LaQuincy Rideau has been confirmed as the second signing of Cheshire Phoenix’s summer as the fan favourite returns to the club where he took British basketball by storm two seasons ago.
The 29-year-old Florida native is well-known to fans in the United Kingdom after his exploits as part of the Nix Nation in the 2023/24 season, where he helped lead Cheshire to their most recent piece of silverware.
An elite facilitator and proven scorer, Rideau will doubtless be the backbone of the Cheshire offence in the forthcoming campaign, and reunite with Skyler White and Coach Ben Thomas who collaborated so well together in their previous shared campaign at Ellesemere Port Sports Village.
Reflecting on his return to Cheshire, Rideau said:
“I’m back in Cheshire and locked in. I’m ready to work and pick up right where I left off—let’s get it.”
Coach Thomas added:
“Q is a difference maker! We loved it when he was with us in the 2023/24 campaign and we definitely missed it last season.
“I think his game and the way we want to play are perfect for each other and I know that he can’t wait to get back to playing for us and in front of our fans!
“The way our time finished together was hard to take and I know after many conversations with myself and James, that Q is very motivated to bring success back to the Phoenix and look to win silverware again! That’s exactly what we want from our guys this year!”
