Bristol Flyers have bolstered their frontcourt with the addition of American forward Darnell Brodie for the 2025/26 Super League Basketball (SLB) and European North Basketball League (ENBL).
The 6’10” big joins the Flyers from Mexican LNBP side Freseros de Irapuato and has arrived in Bristol ahead of the club’s pre-season weekend against Reading Rockets and Newcastle Eagles.
Brodie enjoyed a successful college career at Drake University, where he established himself as a powerful inside presence and averaged 11.4 points and a team-leading 7.9 rebounds per game during his graduate year.
He ranked fourth in the Missouri Valley Conference in rebounds and blocks during the 2023/24 season, and finished his Drake career ranking second all-time in total rebounds with 915 – earning 2024 All-Missouri Valley Conference First Team honours.
Brodie penned his fist professional contract in 2024 with Romanian side CS Timisoara, and after a mid-season transfer to Hungarian side NKA Pecs, he most recently spent the summer campaign competing for Freseros de Irapuato in the Mexican LNBP, where he posted 11.1 points and 7.8 rebounds per game.
Speaking on his decision to join the Flyers, Brodie said:
“It’s a great new experience. When I walked in to the gym, I could tell that this is a great group of guys and everyone has been very welcoming.
“From my first conversation with Coach Kapoulas, it was great to hear his passion about the team, but it’s another thing to see it in person. We spoke a lot over the phone and he told me what he liked about my game and he explained how I could help the team this season.
‘“I’m ready to do whatever it takes to win games, whether it’s scoring, whether it’s rebounding or playing defence – I’m ready to come in and make an impact.”
