Super League Basketball is delighted to announce the winner of the Molten Most Valuable Player for the 2024/25 season, following a voting process involving the League’s Head Coaches, Captains and select members of the media.
Following a stellar debut season with Petar Bozic’s London Lions – who yesterday was confirmed as the Molten Ed Percival Coach of the Year for the most recent campaign – Aaryn Rai has secured the top playing honour of the award season, with this MVP title.
The award continues an incredible period of success for the British-Canadian forward, as Rai in the summer won the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) Play-offs with the Niagara River Lions before returning to the UK to sign for Coach Bozic’s Lions, where he has since won the Championship title.
An ever present for the Lions this season, featuring in all 32 Championship clashes, Rai ranks first in scoring for the Regular Season winners and third in rebounds and assists, but even such impressive stats don’t tell the true extent of his impact as he’s been the go-to guy for London whenever they’ve needed a play and also developed into a vocal leader during his time with the team.
Reflecting on his success in achieving this award, Rai said:
“I’m truly grateful to have been voted as the Molten Most Valuable Player by the Super League Basketball coaches and team captains. It means a lot to be recognised for the hard work I’ve put in this season, and I really appreciate being selected.
“Super League Basketball is full of really talented players, so to be named as the MVP among such a high-level group is a real honour.
“While this award means a lot to me personally, it’s ultimately a team achievement. Without the success of the team, I wouldn’t be in this position. My teammates and coaching staff have played a huge role in putting me — and us — in a position to be successful. So, I would like to extend my gratitude to the team, the coaches, and to the London Lions organisation.”
“I’m excited to keep this season going, and hopefully, we’ll finish the season strong by reaching The O2 and winning the Play-off Championship.”
London Lions Head Coach Petar Bozic added:
“Every coach would love to have a player like Aaryn — someone who’s passionate, leads by example, and works relentlessly hard.
“After last season’s long campaign in the league, he went straight to Canada in the summer to compete in the CEBL. Then, without taking a break, he joined us in the off-season, fully committed to improving and achieving more. He’s not only an exceptional athlete but also a genuine person who truly cares about his teammates, the team’s success, and the organisation as a whole. He’s a perfectionist, constantly striving to get better every single day.
“He completely deserves to be named MVP of the Season, and I couldn’t be happier for him — or prouder to have shared this journey with him. Wishing him continued success in everything that lies ahead.”
