A week removed from a thrilling SLB Cup Final and after losing out on the trophy in front of a home crowd, Manchester Basketball bounced back emphatically, while the Bristol Flyers endured a terrible week on the road.

When the weekend was done, a club record was passed in Cheshire, and the recently crowned London Lions inched closer to the Championship crown, as they kept up their good momentum.

London Lions 77-57 Bristol Flyers

Championship leaders London Lions used a fourth quarter onslaught to power past the Bristol Flyers 77-57 at the CopperBox.

For the first two quarters, it seemed like there was no Cup Final hangover for the Lions, who established a 34-23 lead in what was a scrappy, low-scoring affair.

But then the Flyers clawed their way back and narrowed the gap to just two points heading into the fourth quarter, before a one-sided 27-9, ten minute burst killed the game off.

Aaryn Rai enjoyed a double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds, with fellow GB international Tarik Philip matching Rai’s points tally to lead London.

Jonathan Brown had a game-high 18 points for the Flyers.

Cheshire Phoenix 116-73 Bristol Flyers

Skyler White wrote his name into Cheshire Phoenix folklore as he guided the Cheshire Phoenix to a 116-73 win over the Bristol Flyers, which ended their nightmare week.

LaQuincy Rideau led the way with 23 points, 10 assists and four steals, with Pat Robinson pouring in 19 to support.

But it was a historic moment for White, who added 16 points, including draining four triples, as he became Phoenix’s all-time leader in three-pointers made with 259.

Will Yoakum went 7/9 from the floor for his team-high 17 for Bristol.

Newcastle Eagles 93-120 Manchester Basketball

Manchester Basketball rebounded superbly from their SLB Cup Final loss the week before with a convincing 120-93 win at a sold-out Vertu Motors Arena.

The visitors were clinical all game long as they shot 59 percent from the floor and scored 67 points in the second half in an ambush that stunned the Eagles into submission.

Max Jones had 26 points to lead Manchester, with six players in total getting into double figures. Terrell Burden paced Newcastle with 20 points.

Manchester Basketball 89-86 Leicester Riders

Manchester Basketball’s good weekend was capped off by edging the Leicester Riders 89-86 at the NBPC, but they had to endure a nail-biting finale to get the win.

Pat Smith Jr. hit the game-winning free throws in the dying seconds; however, they did have one stop to make as Tavis Evee’s three missed the target as time expired.

Smith would end with 27 points, seven rebounds and six assists for Manchester. Flynn Boardman-Raffet enjoyed a career-high 35 for the Riders in a losing effort.

B. Braun Sheffield Sharks 99-96 Surrey 89ers

The B. Braun Sheffield Sharks needed overtime to overcome the stubborn Surrey 89ers, but eventually got the job done 99-96.

Nick Kern led the Sharks with 29 points on 12/16 shooting, with Fahro Alihodzic adding a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds, with seven of those coming on the offensive glass. It was Dirk Williams who iced the game at the foul line in a thrilling encounter that went the distance.

It was Kern that bailed out the Sharks, as his bucket in the final seconds of regulation took the game to overtime.

Tyrin Lawrence and Ronald Polite had 22 points apiece for the unfortunate Niners.
