London Lions vs Manchester Basketball, SLB Championship – March 4 2026

Following an incident at the end of the game between the London Lions and Manchester Basketball on March 4 2026, the matter was investigated by the SLB Disciplinary Panel. 

Following review the panel issued the following:

  • A fine to the London Lions and a formal warning about breaches of the SLB Code of Conduct.
  • London Lions Head Coach Tautvydas Sabonis issued six penalty points for general improper conduct.
  • London Lions Assistant Coach Polat Kaya issued 10 penalty points for general improper conduct.
  • Manchester Basketball’s Gabriel Osabuohien issued three penalty points for verbal abuse.

Super League Basketball operates a system of cumulative disciplinary points, and a one-game suspension comes into force whenever a person’s total penalty points reach (or exceed) each of the following totals: 10, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 etc.  

Following an appeal by the London Lions, the panel amended the sanction issued to Coach Kaya to eight points, down from the original 10.

Super League Basketball operates a system of cumulative disciplinary points, and a one-game suspension comes into force whenever a person’s total penalty points reach (or exceed) each of the following totals: 10, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 etc. therefore Coach Kaya’s initial one-game suspension has been rescinded.

London Lions vs Surrey 89ers, SLB Championship – March 19 2026

Following an incident during the game between the London Lions and Surrey 89ers on March 19 2026, the matter was investigated by the SLB Disciplinary Panel. 

After reviewing the incident, London Lions General Manager Martynas Purlys received a fine for breaching the SLB Zero Tolerance Code of Conduct: Respect for Match Officials policy’.

The Disciplinary Panel is currently investigating the incident at the end of the SLB Cup Final between London Lions and Manchester Basketball on March 22 2026 and further information regarding this process will be shared in due course.
